Between The Moments
There’s a magical place that is always waiting for us but it can’t be reached with effort. The magical place cannot be found in the effort of seeking but rather within a state of stillness or no effort; an entering into the abyss of knowing everything and nothing simultaneously. It’s the awareness of all life everywhere into the oneness, the cosmos and beyond. And it’s humble beginnings start with the breath. The journey to this magical place is, thankfully, a part of the natural rhythm of the breath that is innate in us all.
This rhythm comprises of the rise of each inhalation, the release and fall of the exhalation and something in between the two--there exists a pause. Inhalation, pause, exhalation, pause, inhalation, pause…and on and on the rhythm flows. The tricky part is the pause. That’s where the magic waits. It’s the least noticeable and yet the most profound as far as dipping your toes in the sweet-nectar-of-awareness goes. So close your eyes and let the pause calm you, let the pause surrender you and the let the pause begin to liberate you so that you can know yourself to be all of it: your children, your dysfunctional family, your noisy neighbors, your homeless city dwellers, your faltering religious figures and politicians, the starving, impoverished and ill fellow souls everywhere…all of it as all of you.
From one moment to the next there exists a pause of infinite awareness, the watcher, the listener, the teacher, you. She waits and observes, floats, rises and dissolves and rises once again without any engagement or judgment or desire. There is no fear, no ego and no desperate wanting; just a presence and a joy and a full ripeness of complete love. She waits for no one in particular but is available to all. She is invisible to most, overlooked and unnoticed, imaginary at best. But she’s there, always. She is you, awake. She waits for no one but to notice, remember and Be. Her. Now.
There’s no circle created in the pause of infinite awareness, only one point. One dot. Our journey may feel like it leads us in circles but it’s always pointing to the same thing. There was never anything more than One. You, me, all of us, are a part of One and the One lives inside of us. It’s tricky, so let pause be one pointer among many.
